Carabao Cup: Sarri Prefers 17-year-old player ahead of Moses

Liverpool vs Chelsea @ 7;45

Chelsea takes on Liverpool on tonight, and Victor Moses is hoping to make his first start of the season in the Carabao Cup, but a 17-year-old is on his way.

Chelsea Assistant Manager Gianfranco Zola had hinted that the 17-year-old teenage sensation Callum Hudson-Odoi has always been preferred ahead of Moses in the English club.

However, according to Zola more players will have game time opportunity for tonight’s match at Anfield with the 27-year old Victor Moses on the list.

He said, “Don’t forget that, when we played the Community Shield, he (Odoi) was in ahead of players like Victor Moses. If he hasn’t got the consideration of the value, we wouldn’t have done that.

“He is the future. But he’s in a very competitive team. He has to be patient, wait for his opportunities and, when they come, take them in the best way.

We have a lot of players. We didn’t do a big pre-season, so these games can serve as a pre-season to give time for players to get games.”

Since the arrival of new manager Maurizio Sarri, Moses has not started any game in Chelsea colours despite the 27-year-old was a constant first-team player under former boss Antonio Conte.

Today’s clash represents the 180th competitive meeting between the two clubs, with Liverpool registering 77 victories in comparison to 62 wins for Chelsea.

Liverpool’s potential starting XI: Mignolet; Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Moreno; Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Shaqiri, Sturridge, Jones

Chelsea’s potential starting XI: Caballero; Zappacosta, Christensen, Cahill, Palmieri; Drinkwater, Ampadu, Fabregas; Moses, Morata, Hudson-Odoi

The kick-off time for the match is 7:45 pm.
