Inter Milan waited six years to return to the Champions League stage, and it made sure its reintroduction was a memorable one.
Two late goals flattened Tottenham as Inter Milan came from a goal down to win their Champions League Group B opener 2-1 at the San Siro.
Mauro Icardi and Matias Vecino scored a pair of late goals, lifting Inter to a 2-1 win over a shell shocked Tottenham in their Group B opener on Tuesday. Christian Eriksen had opened the scoring with a fortuitous deflection, and it appeared Spurs would walk away with all three points.
But Icardi’s incredible 85th-minute volley was followed in the second minute of stoppage time by Vecino’s header off a corner kick, tilting the scales entirely.

Inter coach Luciano Spalletti retains six of the side that lost to Parma in Seria A at the San Siro on Saturday. However, he brings in Uruguay midfielder Matias Vecino and winger Matteo Politano this evening. Defenders Kwadwo Asamoah and Miranda also both start, as of course does forward Mauro Icardi.

Mauricio Pochettino makes five changes to the Tottenham side that lost to Liverpool at the weekend with Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Harry Winks and Lucas Moura all dropping out.
Serge Aurier and Ben Davies come in to freshen the full-back positions while Davinson Sanchez, Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min are the other changes.
