CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Odey targets top-three finish with Genk

Genk attacker, Stephen Odey has assured that he and his teammates will try their best to ensure that they hold their own in the Uefa Champions League Group that includes Napoli, Liverpool and Salzburg.

Odey called it a dream come true to be presented with a chance to play in the glamorous club competition and that he will relish the prospect of facing the club that is very dear to his heart, Liverpool and the other two clubs in their determined zeal to grab one of the three places that will guarantee a progression in either the competition or the Europa League.
“It is dream come true for me to have the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League,” Odey told Sportinglife.ng.
“I have been watching the competition for several years now and participating as a player now is like a dream come true for me.
Before the draw for the group stage was conducted, I told someone close to me that we would be playing against Liverpool. I have also told the person that I am going to score at Anfield Stadium.
“I am not a die-hard Liverpool fan but I love the club after I watched them in the final of the Champions League when they came back from 3 goals down to equalise and eventually won the match.
“Football comes with ups and downs. I believe that we are going to try our best against Liverpool, Napoli and Salzburg and we shall be targeting a place among the top three at the end of the group stage
games.
The Under 23 star also said that he is not under any pressure to score for his new club and that he is trying his best to ensure that he gets off the mark for Genk.

“I am not under pressure because I believe the goals will come at the right time,” he continued.
“I am doing my best and everybody is watching the effort I have been putting in to ensure that I start scoring. I know that it is a matter of time and the goals will start coming.”
