Champions League: Reds may play RB Leipzig twice in London

Liverpool could play both legs of their Champions League clash with RB Leipzig in England.

The German club are waiting to hear whether their government will permit entry to Jurgen Klopp’s side for the first fixture of the round-of-16 tie.

However, Sportsmail understands that they have already begun to make contingency plans – and a stadium in the London area has been contacted

Should the capital venue get the green light, it would mean that the Premier League champions would not have to travel overseas and would benefit from playing both legs on home soil, albeit behind closed doors.

All flights from the UK into Germany have been banned until February 17.

The first leg is due to be played the day before that date – and the German government is currently insisting there will be no exemptions for elite sports teams, although Leipzig did launch an application on Monday.

Among the options are a reversing of the tie, which would mean Liverpool would play at Anfield first, and a one-off tie.

However, the Merseyside club are not thought to be keen on giving up the advantage they sealed by finishing top of their group.
