Chelsea battle Tottenham, Liverpool for highly-rated Eagles forward

Premier League giants Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are set for a transfer tussle over Lille striker Victor Osimhen.

The 20-year-old forward still has four-and-a-half years left on his deal at the Ligue 1 club.

However, Sky Sports claim the Premier League trio are among a host of teams monitoring his progress as they plot a move.

Nigerian international Osimhen has caught the headlines this season with his performances in the French top-flight.

The ex-Wolfsburg ace is currently the second-highest performing striker in the division according to Wyscout data.

The stats place him ahead of stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Memphis Depay, with only Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder above him.

He is expected to stay at Lille for the rest of the campaign – unless they receive an offer next month that is too good to refuse.

And Chelsea could be preparing to splash the cash to help boost their Champions League qualification hopes following a recent slump in form for Frank Lampard’s men.

Olivier Giroud is expected to depart Stamford Bridge in January, and after winning their battle to get their two-window transfer ban halved, they could move in the coming weeks to bolster their striking department.

Osimhen, who has 12 goals in 23 appearances so far this season, bagged one while impressing against the Blues in the Champions League back in October.

He is believed to be in no rush to leave Lille, currently third in Ligue 1, and is happy to continue developing in his game.

However, Jose Mourinho’s Spurs could also be in line to pip their London neighbours and current Premier League leaders, Liverpool, to his signature.

Joao Sacramento, now No2 at Tottenham, worked with the forward at Lille before joining Spurs.

And Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos, who signed Osimhen from Belgian side Charleroi last summer, is also believed to be a close friend of Mourinho.
