Chelsea continue pursuit for Isak despite massive price tag

Chelsea are reportedly refusing to drop their interest in Newcastle United striker, Alexander Isak, despite a massive asking price.

Enzo Maresca, who took over as Chelsea’s head coach this summer, has identified the need for a reliable striker to lead the front line. Maresca believes Isak’s talent and experience in the Premier League can significantly enhance Chelsea’s attacking prowess. Hence, according to Sky Sports, the Blues remain undeterred in their pursuit of the Swedish international despite the staggering £100 million ($126m) price tag.

Newcastle face a challenging situation as they need to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) before July 1. This financial pressure could force the Magpies to consider selling one of their key assets. Despite their reluctance to part ways with Isak, the potential repercussions of non-compliance, including a possible points deduction, have left Newcastle with a difficult decision.

Chelsea’s initial inquiry into Isak’s availability was made earlier this week, with further discussions reportedly taking place between the clubs on Friday. The dialogues indicate Chelsea’s serious intent and determination to bring Isak to Stamford Bridge. While Newcastle is not keen on losing their star striker, the financial constraints could potentially sway their decision.

Isak has proven his worth in the Premier League with a remarkable performance last season, scoring 25 goals despite being sidelined twice due to a recurring groin injury.
