Chelsea ‘hold talks with Lewandowski’s agent over summer switch’

Chelsea have reportedly held talks with Robert Lewandowski’s agent over a possible summer move as Thomas Tuchel steps up his search for a new striker this summer.

The Champions League winners are desperately hoping to freshen up their front line as they prepare to mount an assault on the Premier League title with Timo Werner enduring a disappointing first season in English football.

Tuchel has made it clear that Tammy Abraham has no future in west London, with the 23-year-old attracting interest from Arsenal, while Olivier Giroud has already left for AC Milan.

The Blues have been heavily linked with Erling Haaland but Borussia Dortmund are adamant they won’t sell this summer, having already lost England star Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Chelsea reportedly had an opening player-plus-cash bid for Haaland rejected last week and Dortmund’s stance has forced the Premier League sided to look elsewhere.

A return to Stamford Bridge for Romelu Lukaku is another possibility, although it is thought it would cost in excess of £100million to sign the Belgian from Inter Milan.

Harry Kane has also been linked but the rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham means it’s unlikely the England captain will make the move across London, despite making it clear he wants a new challenge this summer.

But the latest name on Chelsea’s radar is Bayern Munich talisman Lewandowski amid uncertainty over his future with the Bundesliga giants.

According to German outlet Sport Bild, Chelsea chiefs have already held initial talks with the Polish star’s agent, Pini Zahavi.

Lewandowski, 32, still has two years remaining on his current Bayern deal and the German giants are desperate to tie him down to longer terms.
