Chelsea, Leicester City Relish Eagles Sweet Victory over Libya

Give Kudos to Aina, Wilfred

English Premier League side of Chelsea and Leicester city may have been rooting for the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s victory against their North Africa Opponent, Libya in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier played in Tuinisia on Tuesday.

Both EPL sides took to their social media handles and websites after the crunch encounter which the three times African Champion won by 3-2 in Sfax, Tunisia to relish the game and passed comments on Wilfred Ndidi and Ola Aina, who were in action for the coach Gernot Rohr’s side.

Ndidi is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Leicester City and the national team as a midfielder while, Aina is a professional footballer who plays as a wing-back for Italian club Torino, on loan from English club Chelsea, and the Nigeria national team.

In the AFCON fixture match review on Chelsea’s website, the Blues reckoned that Nigeria edged a five-goal thriller against Libya with Ola Aina in the full blaze match action of 90 minutes, reporting that; the defender, who is on loan at Italian side Torino, started at right-back for the Super Eagles, who were 2-0 up inside 17 minutes thanks to goals from Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa.

”The home side hit back, however, and after reducing the deficit 10 minutes before the break, Libya drew level 16 minutes from time. There was still time for a further twist, though, and with just nine minutes remaining Ighalo scored his second goal of the game to win it for the visitors,” Chelsea stated in the report.

Also, Leicester City could not miss the report that Wilfred Ndidi  played in both first and second halves of the encounter that has seen Nigeria top Group E.

It would have been a delight  if Rohr had featured City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, in either of the two fixtures as the club reckons that the forward was conspicuously not fielded by the national team German manager.

The club wrote; ”An Odion Ighalo brace and a strike from former Fox Ahmed Musa were enough to secure victory for the Super Eagles, who were without City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, in Tunisia.”

Succinct to mention that; Rohr preferred to use Ighalo ahead of the informed former Manchester City player.
