Chelsea ‘one-in, one-out’ transfer policy could see N’Golo Kante leave for PSG

Frank Lampard will have to work under a one-in, one-out transfer policy to reshape his Chelsea squad.

The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech for next season with RB Leipzig hotshot Timo Werner thought to be on the way.

And with attempts to sign another Bundesliga ace, Kai Havertz, stepping up it is understood every acquisition must be matched by a sale.

Having famously spent nothing in January despite successfully cutting down their Fifa transfer ban, the Stamford Bridge club are still looking to recoup some of this summer’s spree through sales.

A total of £90million will go on Ziyech and Werner, who could arrive as out-of-contract pair Willian and Pedro depart.

The spending means Lampard will have to trim the numbers and recoup some money to finance his transfer plans.

It is thought that the centre of midfield is the most likely areas for some surprise cuts.

Billy Gilmour’s emergence and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s return from injury are set to give Lampard a chance to move out more senior players.

Paris Saint-Germain’s long-term interest in N’Golo Kante could finally make a deal a reality, after five years in West London for the French World Cup winner.

Likewise, Jorginho has a strong admirer in Juventus where former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is ready to work with the playmaker for the third time.

In defence, Lampard’s push for a new left-back has led to Leicester’s Ben Chilwell being identified as a key target.

And yet that deal will only come about if Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri depart, the latter having been linked with a return to Serie A.
