Chelsea ‘open talks with Rudiger over contract

Chelsea are reportedly now underway with talks regarding the long-term future of defender Antonio Rudiger.

Just 12-months ago the German had slipped well down the pecking order and was made available for transfer by the Blues.

Rudiger stayed however and last season experienced something of a rejuvenation under compatriot Thomas Tuchel, who took over at the helm following Frank Lampard’s tenure.

Now, according to Sky Sports, Rudiger’s representatives are now sitting down and listening to the best offer Chelsea can place on the table.

The defender is also available to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January 2021, with Real Madrid and PSG both interested in his services.

Rudiger first joined Chelsea from Italian giants Roma in 2017 and has played 153 games for the Blues across all competitions.

Both Tottenham and West Ham have previously been linked with the German, who has on past occasions stressed his love for London and its city.

Rudiger has made 153 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Roma in July 2017, winning the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup and FA Cup.
