Chelsea owner Abramovich seeks ‘urgent meeting’ with Messi’s reps
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has requested an ‘urgent meeting’ with Lionel Messi’s representatives after the Argentine has officially left Barcelona, according to Spanish news outlet AS.
The Chelsea owner is aware that the Blues are behind PSG in the race, but they have the money to complete the shock signing.
Besides, there aren’t many potential suitors beyond that: Man City have just completed a ₤100m signing of Jack Grealish, while Messi’s reported desire to keep playing in Europe rules out the MLS clubs.

Of course, Chelsea are currently pushing for Romelu Lukaku, and Inter demand for their striker even more than what Aston Villa got for Grealish.
So far, the Blues’ idea is to keep pushing for Lukaku while listening in to what Messi’s camp says: if the six-time Ballon d’Or winner is at all interested in moving to London, the club might face a difficult choice.
