Chelsea prepare Rice push as Mendy bid accepted

Tension is mounting at the bottom of the Premier League as the fight to avoid relegation heads towards a dramatic conclusion.

Chelsea’s spending won’t end with Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

The Blues have already brought in Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and Kai Havertz for a combined fee of over £200m, and they could bring in two more.

Mendy is now set to join that list for around £20m, but it might not the final incoming deal at Stamford Bridge before the October 5 transfer deadline.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter on Friday: “Edouard Mendy will be in London in the next few hours – the deal is 100 percent done.”

Romano then added that Chelsea will then turn their attention to Declan Rice of West Ham, but they won’t be matching their valuation of around £75m.
