Chelsea to sack Sarri during international break

Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich is reportedly considering sacking manager Maurizio Sarri during the upcoming international break following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Everton.

Chelsea dominated the first half at Goodison Park without finding a breakthrough, and they were made to pay after the break as goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson put another major dent in their top-four hopes.

Sarri’s future came under intense scrutiny last month following a string of poor results and an extraordinary incident in the EFL Cup final when goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga openly defied the Italian’s attempts to take him off.

An upturn in form lifted some of the pressure off Sarri’s shoulders, but The Express reports that he is now back on the brink of losing his job due to the nature of their defeat on Merseyside.

Abramovich will reportedly use the international break to decide the former Napoli manager’s fate following a disappointing debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
