Chievo close to signing Joel Obi

Chievo are close to agreeing a transfer for Super Eagles and Torino midfielder Joel Obi and he could have his medical on Saturday .

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two clubs are down to the details for the Nigerian who is keen on the move.

His current contract with Torino is due to expire in June 2019 and he is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Stadio Bentegodi.

The 27-year-old spent practically his entire career in Italy, moving to the Inter youth academy in 2005. He had a spell at Parma on loan before he joined Torino in 2015.

He played 22 league matches for Torino in the 2017/2018 season, scoring five goals and scored once in the Coppa Italia from three matches.

Obi was part of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after he was handed a recall by Gernot Rohr four years after his last game for the team.
