The Eagles’ star who was in action for 33 minutes after coming on for Moi Gomez in the 57th minute grabbed the 5th goal in added time.
Like in the previous game, manager Javier Calleja benched the Super Eagles’ star in the first half and brought him on in the second half to give more intensity and pace down the wings when the match was still tied at 1-1.
Karl Toko Ekambi had earlier put Villarreal ahead in the 39th minute but that lead lasted for just nine minutes as Real Betis equalised through Emerson’s strike in the 48th minute.
Chukwueze’s introduction appeared to have brought some urgency in Villarreal’s attack line with the host awarded a penalty in the 67th minute which Santi Carzola converted to make it 2-1.
Ekambi extended Villarreal’s lead to 3 – 1 and completed his brace in the 78th minute while
Gerard Moreno netted the fourth at the dot of 90 minutes before Chukwueze found the back of the net to end the score-line 5 – 1.
The strike was the ex-Golden Eaglets winger’s second goal of the season for the Yellow Submarine in six La Liga matches so far.
In the English Championship, Nottingham Forest went top of the table as they came from behind to beat Stoke City 3-2 at the bet365 Stadium.
