Coronavirus: Ronaldo teases fans from isolation hideout

Cristiano Ronaldo teased fans and media waiting outside his Madeira property as he peered round curtains during a period of self-isolation on Sunday.

The Juventus star is self-isolating in Madeira after it was confirmed almost a dozen Serie A footballers have now been infected with COVID-19.

Ronaldo jetted out at the start of the week to be with his family, as his mother Dolores Aveiro, 65, remains in a private hospital in Funchal after suffering a stroke at the start of the month.

The 35-year-old is with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and his children, staying in the top two floors of the seven-story Funchal house he recently purchased.

Portuguese outlet Diario de Noticas published footage on their Youtube channel showing Ronaldo quickly peeking out of the curtains in the complex to look at those gathered outside his house.

The attacker cheekily pops his head into view, before giving the crowd a wry smile and disappearing back into his room after only a matter of seconds.

Officials in the country have tonight announced that another 368 people have died of coronavirus, which is the biggest number of casualties in a single day since the virus hit the country.

Juventus star Daniele Rugani has tested positive in recent days.

And Ronaldo took to social media to advise his followers on the situation.
