COVID-19: Mourinho offers helping hand to the elderly (Photo)

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has put his free time to good use by delivering essential goods to the elderly in Enfield.

The Tottenham boss worked alongside Age UK and Love Your DoorStep in Enfield, near Spurs’ training ground, in preparing food parcels and other items for delivery to the more vulnerable members of the community.

‘I am here to help Age UK Enfield, Love Your DoorStep Enfield and of course you can donate food, money or be a volunteer,’ Mourinho said on a video posted by Love Your DoorStep’s Twitter account.

The charity has been delivering essential goods to elderly members of society who have been advised to stay in quarantine for the next 12 weeks.

Some members of Mourinho’s squad have also been helping others during this difficult period.

Defender Toby Alderweireld, for example, is donating electronic tablets to hospitals in order to help sick people keep in contact with their family and friends.

Meanwhile, Jan Vertonghen has called for people to be fined for not respecting coronavirus practice measures, and said that the money should be donated to the NHS.

Vertonghen tweeted: ‘Should fine big time for everyone who’s not respecting the protection measures and give the money back to NHS, doctors, nurses, key workers etc… #SocialDistancing’.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have launched their own campaign to keep the nation active during the coronavirus shutdown.

‘Shape up with Spurs’ has been a popular free health and wellbeing programme across their community projects and their fitness coaches are adapting it for home video workouts.
