Cyprus Women’s Cup: Falcons battle ready for Austria challenge

Nigeria’s Super Falcons rounded up training this morning in readiness for their opening group match against Austria in the Cyprus Invitational Women’s Tournament scheduled for this evening.

Drawn in Group C, the Super Falcons will also battle Slovakia on March 1 and Belgium three days later.

Falcons head coach, Thomas Dennerby has selected a strong squad of 24 players for the tournament with the inclusion of former African Women’s Player of the Year, Oshoala, and fellow striker Desire Oparanozie, who both missed the China Women’s Tournament last January.

The only player missing is Francisca Ordega who may likely join the team in the coming days after sealing her move to Chinese club Shanghai WSC from Washington Spirit.

The Super Falcons who are lodged at the Golden Beach Hotel Lanarca are making their debut in the 12-Nation tournament alongside World Cup bound South Africa.
