Dalung: 2 States ready to host next National Sports Festival

Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung has disclosed that two unnamed States have agreed to host the next two editions of the National Sports Festival.

The Minister gave this cheering news after receiving the Festival Torch from the Kogi State government representatives at the Giri Junction, Airport road, Abuja on Thursday.

The Sports Festival has suffered many postponement before the Sports Minister and the Federal Capital Festival Minister Muhammed Musa Bello agreed to partner to host the Festival that commenced in Abuja yesterday.

“When Calabar was unable to host the next edition we had no choice than to take the responsibility and I thank the Honourable Minister of FCT that he agreed to partner with the Ministry to make this Festival a reality.

” As I speak with you two prospective States have signified solid interest in hosting the next two editions and we will meet at the national council of sports to agree on the modalities after this Festival”, Dalung disclosed.

The Sports Minister, however charged the 7,227 athletes to compete clean without using any performance enhancing substance in other to produce the best athletes for future International competitions.

“The athletes must compete clean and fair without using performance enhancing substance that can tarnish their image and the image of the country too.

” And for the officials they must be very fair and just in the assessment of performances so that at the end of the day the purpose of the Festival is not defeated”, Dalung sermonized.
