Dan Azeez wants British Southern Area title

Nigeria-born light-heavyweight prospect Dan Azeez has set his sights a British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) title and hopes a victory today will lead to a shot at the Southern Area title in his next fight.
Undefeated Dan Azeez will fight Stanislav Eschner from Czech Republic at York Hall, London this evening and the 29-year-old said he would be keeping an eye on the light-heavyweight champion Andre Streling for a chance to fight.
Azeez said: “Once I get this fight out of the way I should be challenging for titles, and I would love to have the Southern Area title.
“I will be keeping a close eye on Andre Sterling vs. Ricky Summers this weekend. Sterling trains where I do and I spar with him so I know him quite well.
“He fought Kirk Garvey in his last fight and Garvey could be a potential opponent in the near future too. I am heading towards those types of fights.”
Azeez, a three-time South of England champion added he can’t wait to be back in the ring since his last fight in October and believes 2019 will be a big year for him.
“I am looking forward to getting back in the ring. It is my first fight since October and I can’t wait to compete at York Hall again as I love fighting there.
“Training has gone really well, so I am excited to get in the ring and remind everybody just what I am capable of ahead of a big 2019.”
Dan Azeez is undefeated in six fights, winning three via knockouts and was expected to fight Saidou Sall but the Senegalese pulled out of the fight injured.
Sall’s replacement, 29 year-old Eschner has fought 23 times since joining the pro ranks in 2016, winning and losing 11 fights respectively and drawn once.
