Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has not given up on buying London club Arsenal no matter the odds against him.

Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has not given up on buying London club Arsenal no matter the odds against him.

The Nigerian businessman who is reported to be worth £10.4b is targeting a 2020 takeover which would be after the completion of his refinery .

 

“We will go after Arsenal from 2020… even if somebody buys, we will still go after it,” said Dangote in an interview with Yahoo Sports.

There are fears that Alisher Usmanov could sell his shares to US majority shareholder Stan Kroenke.

“If they get the right offer, I’m sure they would walk away.

“Someone will give them an offer that will make them seriously consider walking away.

“And when we finish the refinery, I think we will be in a position to do that,” said the 61-year-old.

Ranked at number 66 on the Forbes Magazine’s list of the most powerful people in 2018, Dangote, a die hard Gunners fan first made his intention of taking over the club in 2010.
