Daniel Agger: Taking tattoos to the next level
Liverpool hero Daniel Agger was famed for making a mark and doing the dirty work during his 12-year playing career.
And Agger has carried on those traditions post-retirement by working as a tattoo artist and investing in a sewer company.
The Dane joined Liverpool from Brondby in 2006 and made 231 appearances for the Reds before returning to Denmark in 2014.
He was forced to retire in 2016 at the age of just 31, but the former no-nonsense centre-half is still keeping himself busy.
In 2013, Agger invested £450,000 into a sewage company called ‘KloAgger’ that manages sewer systems in Denmark.
The name ‘KloAgger’ means ‘Agger toilet’, and Agger’s interest in the business was by no means a flash in the pan.
He’s still involved with the firm, although brother Marco and close pal Rune Rasmussen oversee the day-to-day running, which allows Agger to concentrate on his main passion in life – tattoos.
The Danish defender is a trained tattoo artist and a member of one of the world’s biggest parlours, called Tattoodo.
In an interview on Tattoodo’s website, Agger revealed just how young he was when he received his first tattoo.
He said: “I was about 15 and on a school trip to Paris. “It wasn’t something I’d thought about before.

“Me and a friend went into the shop and said that’s what we’re going to have and we got it. I still have it today.”
Since then, the 75-cap Denmark international has filled almost every inch of his 6ft 3in frame with ink.
From the Viking graveyard on his back to the love hearts on his calves – Agger wouldn’t be out of place in the Tate Modern.
