Daniel Dubois set to make boxing comeback in May

Can you return to the boxing ring after losing the first fight and having you eye socket broken in the bargain?

While you may be pondering over that 23 year old  Daniel Dubois appears set to step in again notwithstanding the agony he went through.

The path has been cleared for Daniel Dubois to return to the boxing ring, with his comeback marked in for May.

Dubois has been away from the ring since his first professional defeat at the hands of Joe Joyce last November, and is looking to get his career back on track after having his eye socket broken in that loss.

Dubois, who came in for criticism following his defeat, took the decision to shake up his team by installing Mark Tibbs as his new trainer with Mark Bowers and brother Tony staying on in managerial roles.

And the Dynamite’s promoter, Frank Warren, has since revealed that Dubois will meet up with all three to discuss his exact plans for his return.

Warren told the Lowdown: ‘His manager is Martin Bowers and his brother Tony advises him and I understand they’re having a meeting with Mark Tibbs this week and then see what happens and see where it goes.

‘I’ve spoke with him a couple of times and he got the all clear last week so now he can resume training and he’ll be out some time in May.’

It was revealed by Sportsmail earlier this month that Dubois – who was initially told by doctors that he could fight again in April with his recovery going well, removed Bowers as his trainer in favour of Tibbs as his new head coach.

Dubois himself admitted: ‘I really need a fresh start and I need to do what is best for me really.

‘Martin and Tony did a tremendous job, it was a great few years and I am very grateful, we had a fantastic journey.’
