Daniel Udoh impressive as Shrewsbury, Bristol draw in FA cup

 

Shrewsbury Town forward Daniel Udoh was in action for 66 minutes as his league one side held Championship side Bristol City to a 1-1 draw in the third round of the FA cup on Saturday.

The hosts had shot into the lead in the 30th minute of the match played in front of 9,730 spectators at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol but the 23 year old Nigerian and his teammates rallied round to equalise in the 48th minute.

Bristol have Senegal import Famara Diedhiou to thank for the early goal which home boy Sean Gross however cancelled out for visiting Shrewsbury Town.

Despite Bristol’s dominating possession, Shrewsbury Town held their own and fought to the finish to ensure that the encounter in a no victor no vanquished scenario.

Udoh who was born in Lagos it will be recalled went  to England with his family at the age of nine, and as a teenager joined the Luton Town development squad.He later moved on to the Stevenage Academy on a two-year scholarship. He was once called to the Nigeria under 17 side.

Udoh who made 29 appearances for former club AFC TElford United scoring 26 goals, joined Shrewsbury Town last year.

In some of the early matches of the FA cup on Saturday, Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw by Rochadale, Millwall beat Newport county 3-0 while Burnley beat Peterborough 4-2.

Thirty two FA cup matches have been lined up for Saturday and Sunday.
