Danny Welbeck turns Man Utd ‘tormentor in chief’

Danny Welbeck came back to haunt Manchester United once again by opening the scoring at Old Trafford for Brighton on Easter Sunday.

The former Red Devils academy graduate popped up to score from close range early in the Premier League clash.

Neal Maupay’s excellent cross was met with a bullet header from Welbeck, who beat napping Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the ball.

The first effort was saved by Dean Henderson, but Welbeck was quickest to react as he scored with the rebound.

It means the 30-year-old ex-England international, who moved from United to Arsenal back in 2014, now has a record over his old club.

Welbeck is now the first former United player to score three Premier League goals against them after leaving.

The Seagulls star has shown in glimpses at the Amex Stadium he still has plenty to offer at the top level.

Welbeck’s career has been plagued with injury problems, especially during his time at the Emirates.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be wishing he wasn’t available to inflict pain on United.
