The Belgian tore his ligament and is expected to undergo a scan on Thursday to determine the extent of damage.

The 27-year-old came on for the final 30 minutes in City’s 2-0 win against Arsenal on the opening weekend last Sunday and cut short his holiday in a bid to play against the Gunners.

The player left training on crutches and the club will discuss sending him to Catalan doctor Ramon Cugat, who Guardiola has leaned on in the past.
