Death snatches ex-Falcons player

Ex-Nigeria international, Ajuma Ottache is dead.

The ex-player was part of the technical set-up of the U-17 Women’s National Team otherwise known as the Flamingoes that failed to qualify for this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

She had been battling a rare muscular disease which unfortunately claimed her life on November 10.

According to TobexSports who was with the late Ottache before she passed on thought she had won the battle.

” I and everyone thought she had overcome the last phase of this physical and emotional draining ailment. We had talked about our plans for Goodland Rangers for the new season and had looked forward to her recovery,” which were her last words.

The ailment according to Tobexsports had taken Ottache from one hospital to another since December. “I had come back from Ebonyi for this shocking development. I am indeed sad and in shock. I saw her take her last breadth. it is well,” he said.

The mother of three donned the colours of Nigeria at the age grade and senior teams. She won gold at the Africa Women’s championship in South Africa, represented Nigeria at the Olympics in the soccer event in Athens 2004 and the All Africa Games in Abuja.

Until her death, Ajuma coached Goodland Rangers FC in the Nationwide league and had the CAF B and UEFA badge B coaching licences and a diploma from the National Institute of Sports.   She was the only female coach in the Nationwide league.
