Dembele vows to ‘come back stronger after latest injury setback

Barcelona forward, Ousmane Dembele, has vowed to come back even stronger after suffering yet another serious injury.

The Catalan giants confirmed on Tuesday that the 24-year-old needs to undergo surgery on a “dislocation of the biceps tendon in his right knee.”

Initial reports suggest Dembele will be out for four months, although there are fears in the worst-case scenario he could miss six months and not return until January 2022.

Dembele has reacted to the news with a post on social media where he’s offered an update and sent his best wishes to France for the rest of the Euro 2020 tournament.

“Hi all, As you may have read or heard here and there, it is time for me to leave the France team. It’s just a goodbye as they say! I will come back even stronger as I always have. The trials make me grow. The weeks we spent training and surpassing ourselves have united us like never before. This group is strong and I know it. We all know each other! To date I therefore become, with you, the first supporter of Les Bleus!”

Dembele’s time at Barcelona has been blighted by injury and the latest setback comes at a tricky time with the forward out of contract next year. It’s unclear what will happen next but it seems likely he will renew for now so Barca avoid the possibility of him hobbling away for free in 2022.
