Diego Maradona’s interesting final request revealed

Diego Maradona could become just the fourth person in Argentinian history to have their body embalmed after their death.

The former footballer passed away on Wednesday at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack and his body has been laid in state at the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires.

According to journalist Martin Arevalo, Maradona asked his family shortly before his 60th birthday, when he dies, make sure his body is embalmed to preserve it over the passing of time.

An ambulance carrying the body of Diego Maradona leaves his house in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020.

No official line has come out of Maradona’s representatives over this supposed request, with more news expected when his body is taken to the Jarden de Bella Vista cemetery.

Only three people have been embalmed in Argentinian history: Former military general Jose de San Martin, and former Argentinian president Juan Domingo Peron and his wife.
