Dimgba’s Stellenbosch FC hold Arrows, avoid relegation playoffs

Stanley Dimgba’s Stellenbosch FC will play top-flight football next season after holding Golden Arrows to a 0-0 draw on the final day of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.

Stellies failed to win any of their final 12 games of the league season, but got the result they needed to finish ahead of Chippa United. The Chilli Boys could only conjure a 1-1 draw at home to SuperSport United and will participate in the promotion/ relegation playoffs as a result.

Arrows ended the campaign in fourth place, 20 points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns, but having made huge strides under head coach Mandla Ncikazi.

The game offered very little in terms of goal-scoring chances despite Nathan Sinkala showcasing early intent on behalf of the visitors.

Arrows dominated the latter exchanges but couldn’t find the goal they were searching for and in the end Stellies held on to register a fourth successive 0-0 stalemate.
