 Djibril Cisse joins Marseille as striker’s coach for academy stars

Djibril Cisse has returned to Marseille to coach the club’s young stars.

The flamboyant 40-year-old forward has recently been playing in America.

But he appears to be leaving Panathinaikos Chicago to return to his homeland and work with the club he spent three years at after joining from Liverpool in 2006.

Cisse revealed the news on Twitter alongside a snap of him wearing the Ligue 1 side’s colours.

He wrote: “Very proud to be able to help the young OM strikers (from the u16s to the reserve) with Toifilou Maoulida and Philippe Anziani.”

Cisse only signed for American fourth-tier side Panathinaikos Chicago back in April.

He had been without a club since leaving Swiss Division Three outfit Yverdon Sports in 2018.

Cisse played for Greek giants Panathinaikos between 2009-11 after leaving Marseille.

He scored an impressive 47 goals in just 61 games during his time with the Greeks.

Cisse joined Liverpool from Auxerre in 2004 for £14m, but struggled with injuries which included a horror leg break.

Panathinaikos Chicago was the 13th club of the nomadic star’s playing career – but Cisse’s talents don’t end on the football pitch.

He has always been a lover of clothes and has long taken an interest in the world’s biggest designers.

And since playing in the Premier League, the veteran has also turned to modelling.

He hit the catwalk in the final show of Jean-Paul Gaultier in the French capital last year.

Sporting a suave blue Gaultier suit and blazer combination, the Frenchman strutted his stuff down the catwalk.

And the former striker excited the crowd by showing off his tattooed torso as he removed his blazer.

The event took place at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet and involved modelling royalty.Cisse was followed on the catwalk by the likes of Karlie Kloss, as well as supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid.
