Draws for Champions, Europa League tomorrow

A month after the resumption, UEFA prepare draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Champions League and the Europa League to be held in Nyon tomorrow.

At 11:00am UK time tomorrow, the Champions League will start off the draw, before the Europa League run-in will be set from 12:00pm.

Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are through to the quarter-finals this season but there are still decisive games left for both Juventus and Napoli in the remaining return legs, interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Juventus trail Olympique Lyonnais 1-0 after the first leg in France, whilst Napoli held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw at the San Paolo, and the spotlight will, therefore, be at the Allianz Stadium and Camp Nou for Italian fans.

Manchester City face Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium in England, whilst Bayern Munich will have to complete the job against Chelsea in Munich.

The remaining games of the last-16 in the Champions League will take place on August 7 and 8 and UEFA has confirmed the games will be hosted in their home stadiums.

Thereafter, the tournament is set to be played in Lisbon from August 12 to, at the Benfica Sports Stadium and Jose Alvalade Stadium.

Three rounds of quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Final taking place on August 23, all in the Portuguese capital.

For the Europa League, on the other hand, the last-16 return legs will take place on August 5 and 6, before making way for a mini-tournament in Germany.

Inter and Roma are among the contestants who must get through their last-16 games and will only play one match to decide a winner against Getafe and Sevilla respectively.

Then, the final eight will be played from August 10 in Germany, between Cologne, Duisburg, Dusseldorf, and Gelsenkirchen, ending on August 21.

Like everything else in recent weeks, the draw scheduled for tomorrow will, therefore, be different from usual. The initial draw will establish the quarter-finals, the second the semi-finals, and then the road to and probable Finals will be revealed.

None of the two competitions have any seedings or restrictions, meaning that two teams from the same nation can face each other and there will be no seedings involved.
