Chief Obaseki, popularly referred to as the “Moving Train” for his no-nonsense style of administration, died recently after battling illness for a while. Dudu-Orumen, who during an earlier visit to Obaseki’s family described Obaseki’s death as huge loss to Nigerian football, said on Tuesday that the void created in Nigerian football by the death of the late former Bendel Insurance FC chairman, would be difficult to fill.

Dudu-Orumen, who spoke on Tuesday after visiting the Obasekis along with members officials of the commission, urged the Obaseki family to be consoled by the fact that their patriarch’s contribution to Nigerian football has been etched in the annals of the game.

“Chief Obaseki was an icon, a giant in Nigerian football. His passing is not only a personal loss to me him being one of the reasons I embraced football administration, Nigerian football is diminished by his passing. I implore you to be strong despite this huge loss. Be consoled by the fact that he has annexed a place of honour in the pantheon of Nigerian football greats”, Dudu-Orumen said.
