Lobi Stars’ Ebube Duru has asserted that they know the quality their head coach Gbenga Ogunbote has brought to the team after the experienced gaffer was unveiled by the Benue State Deputy Governor recently.
Ogunbote decided to leave Enugu Rangers at the end of his two seasons’contract with the club for another experience with the Pride of Benue despite leading the Flying Antelopes to back to back place on the
Duru who is a member of Nigeria Under 23 team told SportingLife.ng that he has started learning a few new things under the tutelage of Ogunbote and that he is confident that the former Enyimba and Sunshine
Stars coach will succeed in Makurdi too.
“We know Ogunbote very well and we know what he could do before he joined us,” Duru told SportingLife.ng.
“We the players were very happy that the club went the extra length to get us a new quality coach that can further assist us to reach our potential. We were very close last season but a few things went wrong and I am confident with coach Ogunbote, we are going to correct those mistakes that denied us another place on the continent.
“I am very open to working with him because I have started learning actually with the training sessions we have had under him. There are still a few things yet to be concluded regarding a new contract we are
negotiating with the club. I am sure it will be sorted very soon.”
