Eagles Round Up: Abdullahi, Etebo, Moses score, Ajayi grabs brace

 

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr would indeed be very glad with the performance of some of his players who were on the scorer’s sheet for their respective clubs this weekend ahead of this month’s Nations Cup qualifier against Seychelles and the international friendly against Egypt.

In Turkey, Buraspor defender, Shehu Abdullahi scored his first goal of the season in their 3-2 victory against Sivaspor on Saturday.

The win is the first for Bursaspor this year which has helped to boost their survival hopes.

Still in the Turkish Super Lig, Victor Moses scored the winning goal for Fenerbahce from the penalty spot as the Yellow Canaries beat Rizespor by a lone goal.

Moses goal came in the 84th minute before being substituted six minutes later by Eljif Elmas.  Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem, Azubuike Okechukwu and Aminu Umar were in action for Rizespor.

It was a wonderful outing for Eagles defender Semi Ajayi who bagged a brace for Rotherham United as they recorded a 3-2 win against Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Ajayi who has scored four goals in 35 appearances for the Millers this season struck in the 2nd and 83rd minute.

Oghenekaro Etebo was on target for Stoke City who defeated Nothingham United 2-0 at the Bet 365 Stadium. It was Etebo’s first goal since joining the Potters at the beginning of the season.

At the DW Stadium, John Mikel Obi was in action for 90 minutes in Middlesbrough’s 0-0 draw against their hosts Wigan Athletic.

Boro remain fifth position in the table following the draw with 58 points ftom 34 matches.
