Eagles shirt influenced Azubuike’s Rizespor’s loan deal

Former Captain of the Nigeria U23 national team, Azubuike Okechukwu has returned to Turkey to join Caycur Rizespor on loan till the end of the European season.

Azubuike as he is fondly called secured his loan deal after being permitted by his club Pyramids FC of Egypt to join Caycur Rizespor on a six (6) months loan.

A very close confidant of the central defender Ededuan Daniel Abumere disclosed to SportingLife.ng that Azubuike had to return to Europe in order to attract the attention of Super Eagles team selectors.

“Azubuike had to retrace his steps back to Europe in order to attract the attention of Gernot Rohr and his assistants since the major attention is on Nigerian players that are doing well in Europe.

“Azubuike has been doing very well with the Pyramids of Egypt but his chances of being recalled to the Eagles will be easier if he starts to shine for Rizespor”, Abumere disclosed to SportingLife.ng on Wednesday.

“As at today (Wednesday) he did his medicals and may be ready for action if Rizespor deems it fit to parade him”, Abumere also added.

Rizespor are battling to stay up in the Turkish top league after they won promotion back to the Super Lig last season.

They are bottom of the league with 15 points from 18 matches.

Central midfielder Okechukwu, 21, moved to Egypt from another Turkish club Yeni Malatyspor in August 2018.

His market value is put at 1.5 million Euros.
