Eagles’ stars in Epl may undergo bi-weekly covid-19 test

Super Eagles stars in the English Premier League and their teammates may undergo bi-weekly covid-19 tests if premier league chiefs are to have their way.

Premier League chiefs are plotting to carry out 1,000 coronavirus tests every week in order to ensure players remain safe when the season restarts.

The bill for each test, costing an estimated £150, will be paid for by the Premier League.

However, club doctors are voicing serious ethical concerns about the morality of testing players twice-a-week if the NHS are still in short supply.

The testing process for players will not get underway until teams are given permission to resume full and proper team training.

But the Premier League are keen to get the season back running again, with the new aimed restart date for games on the weekend of June 13.

Premier League chiefs have insisted they will be guided by the Government, and Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has held productive talks over the return of top-level football.

Club medics, though, are likely re-echo their concerns ahead of Friday’s Premier League summit when all 20 clubs will discuss proposals to complete the season.

The testing process could go on for weeks and result in tens of thousands of tests.

All 20 clubs have a squad of 25 players each and they would need testing twice-a-week.

The estimated bill may even top £5m, but the Premier League are adamant they will pay.

Clubs want to have a three-week pre-season ahead of resuming games and there are still more than 100 left to play, including the FA Cup.
