Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has confirmed to SportingLife.ng exclusively from Alexandra, that Kaiser Chiefs of South Africa first-choice goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi will man the post for the Eagles in today’s first Group B match against Burundi in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Egypt.
“Akpeyi will start the game. If there is no problem in the last session today (yesterday evening training)”.
The Franco-German football tactician was however not happy that midfielder John Ogu has not recovered fully from sickness. Rohr also bluntly told SportingLife.ng that some of the recuperating players cannot last 90 minutes match duration yet. He, however, hopes to have a very sold and super fit squad by the time the second group match is played.
He also confirmed the SportingLife exclusive on the 10 sick players by telling SportingLife yesterday that the situation in the camp is getting better by the day compared with some days ago.
“The situation is getting better now. John Ogu still who was sick on Wednesday and couldn’t train with the rest of the players has started training but only today.
