Eberechi Eze claims Crystal Palace prestigious award

Eberechi Eze has been crowned Crystal Palace’s Player of the Month for January 2021, according to the Eagles’ official website on Monday, February 8.

This is the second time the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder has scooped the monthly accolade since his switch to Selhurst Park last summer.

Eze garnered 36 percent of the fans vote, placing first ahead of Vicente Guaita (19%) and Jaïro Riedewald (8.5%) to cart home the award.

Interestingly, the Nigerian-born England U21 international netted two sensational goals against Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, helping Palace register wins in both fixtures.

After netting his eye-catching solo goal against Sheffield United, Eze said: “I thought I may as well take the chance and see if I can beat someone. When I got into shooting range I was thinking: ‘I’ll try my luck and see what happens,’ and thankfully it went in.

“I know it’s a good goal. I’m grateful for the opportunity to come on, and to take my chance which was great.

“You want to come on and make an impact and be effective. We have to be ready on the bench and take our chance when it comes.”

Eze was in action for Crystal Palace in the Premier League clash against Leeds United at Elland Road on Monday night.
