Ekong: Italian league has made me a better player

Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has emphasized that playing in the Italian Serie A has helped to develop his game after he completed his switch to Udinese from Buraspor of Turkey during the summer transfer.

Ekong has featured in all of Udinese league games this season including their 2-0 loss to Juventus before the international break and the defender informed that he felt he made the right decision to move to Italy after a brilliant individual performance at the World Cup.

The former Bursaspor of Turkey player says he expects his form with Udinese to have a good bearing on the Eagles.

“Italian league is one of the best leagues in the world and I am happy to be playing there presently,” Ekong told journalists.

“Italian league is fast becoming what it used to be in the past and star players are now struggling to move there from Spain, England, and other top football nations. It is good for me for my development after a good World Cup on a personal level for me and some of my teammates in the national team who also secured good moves away from their former clubs.

“I am happy that I have played every minute of our matches this season and I am sure that my form will be of benefit to Nigeria’s national team.”
