England-based Nigerian boxer, Larry Ekundayo will defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) European welterweight title against Louis Greene of the United Kingdom on Friday evening.
‘The Natural’ will be making the first defense of his welterweight belt against undefeated Greene at York Hall, London.
The 36 year-old in a recent interview said his training ahead of the biggest fight so far in his career was going ‘super’ well and thanked his management team for making it possible and he was looking for his time in the ring with Greene.
Ekundayo beat John Thain on points to win the vacant title in July. Ekundayo’s professional record stands at 14 victories and just one defeat in 15 fights since debuting in 2012 while 26 year-old Greene is still undefeated in 9
fights.
Ekundayo, who was born in Lagos and represented Nigeria at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, beat Ghanaian Joseph Lamptey by a unanimous decision to win the vacant African Boxing Union welterweight title in 2015.
He narrowly lost the vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Inter-Continental Welterweight Title by split decison to Gary “Hellraiser” Corcoran last year.
He won 110 of 125 fights as an amateur and he defeated three boxers in one night to become the Light Middleweight Prizefighter champion in London in 2012, becoming the first boxer in the competition to be given a £2,000 knockout bonus.
