Elated Ex Falcons Coach Thomas Dennerby lands India U-17 job

 

Former Super Falcons Coach Thomas Dennerby has found happiness again after landing a new job as coach of India Under 17 women’s team.

The swede who dumped the Falcons after the World cup in France described his new appointment as a challenge even as he thanked All India football Federation (AIFF) for giving him the opportunity to serve.

The 60 year old former Sweden women national team coach is particularly thrilled to be grooming the Indian girld ahead of next year’s FIFA Women Under 17 world cup to be hosted by India.

The tournament will be held in India between 2 and 21 November 2020, and  will mark the first time that India will be hosting a FIFA women’s football tournament. Spain are the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018.

On duty then with Falcons

Dernneby whose departure from Nigeria was clouded with a lot of uncertainties and controversy over paid and unpaid salaries and accomodation said about his new assignment “A big challenge to be coaching the host of the FIFA U-17 WWC. I am extremely humbled and grateful to AIFF for giving me the responsibility to groom the team.”

Dennerby led the Super Falcons to victory at the last Nations cup in Ghana, the 11th time the Nigerian girls will be lifting the continental trophy, but failed to go past the round of 16.
