Enyimba have begun the NPFL 2018-19 season on a winning note after they blitzed past MFM 2-0 on Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba in the opening game of the Nigeria Professional League season.
Goals from Nelson Ogbonnaya and Abdulrahman Bashir in either half of the game in the 13th and 53rd minutes ensured that the People’s Elephant repeated the same scores over the Olukoya Boys just like it was last season.
Enyimba dominated the game and could have scored more than five goals had their strikers been more clinical in front of goal.
It was emotional moment for Chukwuka Onuwa when he came on in the second half for Enyimba against his former club and he almost made his presence felt with an incisive pass that almost led to his team’s third goal.
The People’s Elephant have three points in the bag after one game and they will prepare next for Kwara United in a league game billed for Ilorin.
