EPL: Chelsea boss Potter confirms Fofana’s injury not serious

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has confirmed Wesley Fofana’s knee injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Fofana came off in the first-half of the game against Milan in the week because of the injury, just moments after he scored his first goal for Chelsea. The 21-year-old defender left Stamford Bridge on crutches, but Potter said it was not as bad as he initially feared.

“Wesley’s knee, not as bad as we thought,” the Blues head coach told reporters. “After the game, we were concerned. It will be a few weeks, I think. Consider it better than it could be but he’s out for a few weeks.”

Asked about his availability for France’s World Cup campaign, Potter also said: “Yeah, that is a possibility.

“It depends on how his rehab goes. I wouldn’t want to put too much of a timescale on it, but there’s a possibility of that, yes.”
