EPL: Liverpool fan holds title parade after getting bored waiting for restart

A Liverpool fan has taken matters into his own hands and held an open-top title parade to celebrate their very likely Premier League glory.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are 25 points clear at the top of the table and were on track to claim their first ever Premier League title – until the coronavirus pandemic postponed the season.

The Premier League hasn’t held a game since March and businessman Kongkiat Inthraseesangwon decided he couldn’t wait for the return any longer.

Kongkiat purchased a truck for the open-top parade in Phayao, Thailand and painted it red to match the club’s traditional colours, while also slapping on the club’s crest and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ motto.

The three trucks cost 10 million baht, which is around £256,000.

When asked about the parade, Kongkiat explained he had planned the celebrations for when Liverpool physically lifted the title.

“I had planned to bring the trucks out for a parade with the other Liverpool supporters when the team lifted the trophy,” Kongkia stated per The Mirror.

“However, due to the pandemic the league has been postponed so I decided to do the celebration in advance.

“I think the money has been well spent because if we win, it will be the first time in more than 30 years that we have won the league. I think the fans deserve to have their celebration.

“Moreover, after the celebration, the truck will be used in my business so it’s definitely not a waste of money.”

The Premier League is looking to return to action in mid-June with sides resuming training in the coming weeks.

It was revealed yesterday that six people across three Premier League sides had tested positive for COVID-19.

19 clubs have completed tests and received results, while one club waited until Monday to conduct their tests and so their results are currently unknown.

The league will not be disclosing any information on the individuals or clubs in question but stated they would be required to self-isolate for a week.

Coronavirus tests will be carried out twice per week on players, in addition to temperature checks and questionnaires being filled out prior to every session.
