EPL: Liverpool suffer Mane injury blow in Wolves win

A first half  injury to Sadio Mane during Wolves clash could make a minor dent to Liverpool’s near-perfect Premier League campaign.

The Senegalese forward has been one of the Reds’ star players this term, scoring 11 goals and notching eight assists for the league leaders.

However, they may now face a period without him after he pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury during their match against Wolves on Thursday night.

The 27-year-old wandered towards the touchline before sitting down on the pitch while play was ongoing and was replaced by new signing Takumi Minamino, who was handed his Premier League debut.

Mane now looks certain to sit out Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Shrewsbury and could miss Premier League games against West Ham and Southampton.

Liverpool will however be hoping the Premier League’s inaugural winter break after the Saints fixture will give him ample time to recover ahead of a trip to Norwich and the Champions League last 16 first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Roberto Firmino struck another late winner for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s men opened up a 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 victory at Wolves on Thursday night.
