EPL: Mo Salah ready for an immediate Liverpool return

Mohamed Salah has declared himself ready for an immediate return to training at Liverpool to shrug off the despair of Egypt missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations title.

Salah has travelled back from Cameroon and will report to Liverpool’s training HQ today to prepare for the Premier League meeting with Leicester City on Thursday at Anfield.

Salah had no hesitation in assuring manager Jurgen Klopp that he was physically and mentally prepared for an instant reintroduction.

He and Sadio Mane have missed the past six club games while at the Africa Cup of Nations, but Liverpool have won five and drawn one despite their absence.

Mane may not return until tomorrow as he participates in the celebrations in Senegal, who recorded their first Africa Cup of Nations title. Mane said Sunday’s victory eclipsed his club achievements.

“It’s the best day of my life and the best trophy of my life,” said the 29-year-old, who has won the Champions League and Premier League with Liverpool.

“This is the special one for me. This is more important for me. I am happy for myself, my people and all of my family.”
