EPL: We can’t improve things instantly; football doesn’t work like that, says Liverpool boss Klopp

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says fans cannot expect an instant improvement as they battle to snap their poor early-season form.

Klopp was speaking at today’s Champions League presser for their clash with Rangers two days after their 3-3 draw with Brighton.

He said, “We realised after Napoli it was a low point and we had to change things quickly. We didn’t play Wolves, played Ajax, then didn’t play Chelsea and couldn’t keep up anything from the Ajax win. Then we played Brighton, a really good team and conceded two early goals.

“When you spot a problem and think you have the solution and you expect the solution to be instant and influential, that’s in football never the case.

“Had we won the Brighton game it would have been a different feeling but with similar problems. We have to do pretty much everything better.

“It was only two years ago we were in a similar situation when we lost all our centre-halves but we found a way out by working on it. That’s what we will do this time.

“Do you think Cristiano Ronaldo at the moment is at the top of his confidence? It happens to all of us. Lionel Messi last season pretty much the same. You have to take a step in the right direction and when you’re ready, it’s back (the confidence).

“In individual sports you can fight yourself through it. In team sport, you have to do it together. It can be more complicated.”

He added. “Patience is not 100% the right word, but we have to be patient to do the right thing again and again until it works out. We can’t always start new, completely new. If we can help the boys with way to defend differently then we have to do that.
