EPL: ‘You must attend preseason tour abroad with us’, Man Utd officials tell embattled Ronaldo

Manchester United have told Cristiano Ronaldo he must be present for their preseason tour of Australia and Asia.

Reports over the weekend have claimed that Ronaldo has requested an exit from the Old Trafford club.

United embark on a two-and-a-half week tour of the southern hemisphere on Sunday.

And Ronaldo has been told he is required to be part of the travelling squad, according to The Mirror.

A key reason for Ronaldo wanting to leave United is the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

The 37-year-old has never played in the Europa League, which United qualified for after finishing sixth last season.

A source close to Ronaldo said: “Next season will be the first time he won’t play in the Champions League.

“He needs to play in the competition – it’s what drives him to produce his best, hence why he wants to move.”
