EPL: Zouma out to make Chelsea ‘suffer’ in ‘special’ London derby reunion

Kurt Zouma says West Ham can make former club Chelsea suffer as David Moyes’ side look to end a run of three games without a win against the Premier League leaders.

Zouma made the switch from Stamford Bridge to the London Stadium in a £29.8million deal in the summer after seven years and 151 appearances for Chelsea.

The Frenchman has made an impressive start in east London but knows to expect a tough afternoon against his former employers on Saturday.

“It will feel special in a way because I’ve been there for so many years,” said Zouma.

“I want to beat Chelsea because I want to beat everybody. I play for West Ham now and I’m very happy to be here. It’s going to be a tough game as we know they have a lot of strength, but we have to use our strength to make them suffer.”

West Ham remain in the top four despite a run of two defeats and a draw over their past three League games, which has left them seven points off Liverpool in third and nine behind Thomas Tuchel’s Blues.

The blip has not hit confidence, however.

“I mean, when you see the season we’re having at the minute, I don’t want to go ahead too much, but we can beat the top four and top-six teams and that’s where we are at the minute – we can compete with everybody,” said Zouma.

“That’s what we want, to be a competitive team and playing in Europe every season. Obviously, it starts from Saturday. It’s going to be a tough game, but we feel confident we can get points from that.”
